We are starting a program that will hopefully help us do a better job of mentoring new Post members. Educational materials covering basic Post and other VFW information have been developed. We are also going to experiment with a class called “VFW 101”. It will be held at 6:00 PM on Post meeting nights at the back of the Hall. We will discuss the educational material and answer any questions. Probably last 20 to 30 minutes. If you are interested in attending please call me at 602-363-1009. I will email the material to you for the meeting. My hope is that new members will not be totally lost at our meetings and that they will want to get involved in the Post when they learn more about us.

Effective March 5th 2024, all Veterans regardless of where they served may possibly be eligible for VA healthcare without the requirement of receiving VA disability benefits. If you meet basic service and discharge requirements and if any of the requirements in the following link apply, you may be eligible. https://www.myhealth.va.gov/mhv-portal-web/web/myhealthevet/ss20240315-va-health-care-expands-millions. If you believe you may be eligible and need assistance in filing or have any questions regarding VA benefits please contact Post Service Officer Mike “Zeke” Mazor – 602-909-6301 – email svo9400@yahoo.com.

The upcoming Annual Casino Night will be on August 10th!  Details to follow. We are accepting donations of prizes. For information call Velvet at 602-487-3348.

If you have a VA ID card, check the expiration date to the left of your photo. You can order a new card, and get a new photo if you want one, at Eligibility and Enrollment, Phoenix VA, 7th Street entrance. Start about a month in advance of expiration.

Commander Jim Shanley has done a great job for the Post during the past 3 years and now let’s show him our support as he runs for Department Surgeon at the Convention at Lowes Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson. Nominations are on Friday May 31st with elections on Saturday followed by swearing in at the Banquet that evening. Details at VFWAZ.com.

We have a very good website  www.vfw9400az.org  and now we are in need to have someone take it over. If you have the skills and an interest, please call Kevin Haegele at 480-543-0980.
